- I love to knit and spin, but I’m a lazy finisher. Pretensions toward writing and art. Have a great deal of interest in the natural world and life sciences–biology, ecology, etc. etc. Bugs thrill me, especially bees. As of December 6, 2008, I am a certified apprentice beekeeper in Washington State, and am a co-owner of two hives in Whatcom county. Undoubtedly this wide range of interests is what’s keeping me from finishing things (or at least I can use that as my excuse, right?). My knitting tastes tend toward the traditional. I enjoy circular knitting, steeked sweaters, Scandinavian colorwork, and cable and traveling stitches. I’d rather spin commercially prepared top when I can get it, but have been known to wash and card my own fleeces (though under duress, with much grumbling involved). I spin on a Schacht Matchless and a walnut Lendrum folding wheel, as well as an assortment of much-loved drop spindles.
